November 2019

It has been a year of impressive projects for St. Vital and a productive first year representing Royalwood, Bonavista and Sage Creek.

I have had the pleasure of working cooperatively with other area politicians to improve the kitchen at Niakwa Place School and the play structure at H.S. Paul School, both of which are home to many students from Royalwood.

In Bonavista,  I have worked to address residents' safety concerns by having the 2- way stop at Warde and Boulevard de la Seigneurie converted to a 4-way stop.

In Sage Creek I am working with city staff and Qualico to extend Bishop Grandin to the East, as far as  Boulevard des Hivernants, to create a new entry/exit point for this growing community.

In the coming year, I look forward to funding new recreation options in Sage Creek, and supporting the efforts of Save our Seine to upgrade Bois-des-esprits.

I am proud to have these flourishing neighbourhoods as part of the St. Vital Ward!

Grants from ward funds were allocated to:

  • Help repair the garage at Windsor Community Centre

  • Upgrade the play structure in the Dr. Rey Pagtakhan Park

  • Replace diseased Elm trees on Kingston Crescent

  • Assist Marlene Street housing complex with renovations to office space

  • Make improvements to the St. Vital Curling Club

  • $14,000 to Com-Span, located on Moore Avenue, for day-services for adults with developmental disabilities

  • $10,000 to St. Mary's Road United Church to repair their roof

Together with the Louis Riel School Division, we have completed many projects throughout St. Vital:

  • A new cafeteria and indoor/outdoor community theatre space opened at Collège Jeanne-Sauvé with a $500,000 contribution from the City

  • The opening of the first new 400 metre rubberized running track in Winnipeg since 1967, behind Victor Mager School

  • A new Basketball court at Lavallée School

  • A new Nature Playground at H.S. Paul Park

  • An $8,000 grant to Glenlawn Collegiate for flooring in their fitness room

There is much more to come for St. Vital in 2020!
