The Federal government rezoning scheme for Winnipeg is so rushed that the map showing “800 metre walk to primary transit", justifying 4-storey buildings as-of-right, covers 80% of City but actually EXCLUDES the Parker Lands, literally next to $600m rapid transit line.
Only 2 years ago, after 2 years of public consultation, Council approved (I supported) infill guidelines with a 28-foot height limit (35 feet in newer areas) for new builds up to 4 units. New federal scheme allows “4 stories” (feet ??m), in about 80% of the city, no public consultation.
